Smart City development directions

Zalaegerszeg is committed to implementing smart solutions. The projects defined as part of the city’s smart city strategy fit in with the city’s vision. The aim is for the residents to learn about and enjoy the benefits of the investments in progress in Zalaegerszeg and in its urban area in a timely manner thanks to the innovative ecosystem.

  • The development of a smart application

The aim of this development project the city is planning to implement is to launch a comprehensive application that is designed to control several, already operating applications that are being tested now.

  • Smart Traffic – demand-driven Science Park – City bus service project idea

Within the framework of this development project, our aim is to start a bus service operating between the Science Park and the city of Zalaegerszeg. This could be a demand-driven traffic solution copying the example of the already functional ZERGE solution.

  • A Smart Forum

The aim is to define shared smart directions that can be integrated into the city’s smart development projects.

  • A Digital Recreational Centre (as part of the Science Park Flagship Project)

The Centre’s target group consists of students between 6-19 years of age and their parents and teachers, who can familiarise themselves with the latest available technologies. The interactive workshops transform the digitalised way of thinking that is alien to many people into an adventure and help answer job orientation questions.

Green City and Climate Protection

Zalaegerszeg and its urban area has already placed large emphasis on promoting circular economy and strengthening the environmental industry among its developmental directions. We are talking about directions to be strengthened if, as part of the flagship projects, we intend to create more sustainable conditions that foster an innovative, value-added atmosphere.
  • Public transport – bus services: a project idea to achieve optimum service operation

As a first step, a networked database (with passenger numbers, routes, timetables etc.) must be created and modelled in this field, and then the optimum way of operation must be identified as a long-term objective.

  • The procurement of electric buses (Green Bus Program)

As part of the Green Bus Program, half the current buses serving the city will be replaced by electric buses with minimum carbon emissions with the help of government and EU funds within the next 10 years.
